Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Nikro Duct Sealing & Repair: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Nikro-compatible duct sealing and repair components for Fort Worth homes, with most jobs priced between $275 and $625 installed depending on which part in the Nikro system has failed. We carry the seals, gaskets, and sealing rings on our trucks, so we can usually complete the work in a single visit. Most folks discover the problem the same way: a duct cleaning appointment wraps up, the system is reassembled, and a month later there’s a soft whistle behind a wall or a register that just won’t hold suction anymore.

Which Nikro Models This Applies To

The Nikro duct sealing and repair parts we handle fit the Nikro NP series and the VP series negative air machines that many Fort Worth homes are cleaned with, but the part most owners call about is the sealing ring assembly on the vacuum hose connection. Nikro has changed this fitting across model years, and one of the biggest compatibility gotchas we see is the collar size: earlier Nikro units used a 10-inch sealing ring while the recent NP-80 and NP-95 units moved to a 12-inch ring, and the parts do not interchange. If you have an OEM Nikro ring, it is cast aluminum and it is tough; the aftermarket versions are often stamped steel with a foam gasket that compresses unevenly in the Texas heat and fails within a season. We keep both sizes on hand and recommend OEM for anything that sees regular use. Mortons Air Duct Fort Worth is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Nikro, but we have repaired and replaced enough of these parts on jobs all over Fort Worth that we know exactly what fits and what does not.

Signs Your Nikro Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing

  • A soft whistle at the register you never noticed before. The sealing ring gasket loses compression over time, especially after a Texas summer of hot air running through the system. Air leaks past the seal and whistles like a slow kettle.
  • The vacuum connection pops loose mid-job. This is the big one. The foam gasket inside the sealing ring has lost its spring, and the negative pressure pulls the hose off the collar. We see this most often on units used in newer builds near Wedgwood where the duct runs are tight.
  • Dust collecting around the hose collar. If the seal is not seating, dust escapes at the connection point instead of being pulled into the filtration system. It shows up as a fine gray ring on the floor or the machine housing.
  • The seal looks crushed or lopsided. A proper Nikro sealing ring sits flush against the collar face. If you run a finger around it and feel a flattened or uneven lip, the gasket is past saving.
  • The machine runs louder than it used to. Air escaping at the seal makes the negative air machine work harder, and the motor pitch changes. It is not subtle once you know what you are hearing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Worth, the cost to replace a Nikro sealing ring or gasket typically lands between $275 and $625. The lower end covers the gasket itself and the labor to install it; the upper end covers a full sealing ring replacement where the collar has been damaged or the OEM part is needed for a newer-series machine. We write the price before any work starts and that price covers parts, labor, cleanup, and a photo of the finished job before we leave the house. The work is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not right, we make it right. No one should be quoting you a wide range of maybes over the phone, so we do not. We tell you what the part costs, what the labor costs, and what we are going to do about your floors while we are inside.

DIY or Call Us?

The sealing gasket itself is not a high-tension part like a coil spring or an electrical panel, so you can genuinely inspect it: unplug the machine, pull the hose, and look at the ring. If the gasket is cracked or compressed, that is your culprit. What you should not do is try to replace the cast aluminum ring assembly yourself, because an uneven seat will tear a new gasket within weeks and you will be back where you started. Paul Adeyemi and our technicians carry the OEM and aftermarket options on the truck, so we can swap it, seat it correctly, and test the whole connection under pressure. If you want us to check it while we are already out for a duct cleaning or dryer vent job, call (682) 432-0424 and we will add it to the written price up front.
